Incredibly sad to hear about the death of Jerry Springer.

Jerry was on the radio with me many times, beginning in 2010 for America's Got Talent (remember when he was host?), for his daytime talk show, for his game show called, Baggage, and for his courtroom show, Judge Jerry.

I remember being nervous during our first chat because I had a cold and my voice wasn't at full capacity. I apologized before we started and he said, "Have you seen my show? We don't set the bar high."

I explained to Jerry that in high school I had a side business revolving around his show. His Too Hot For TV DVDs were out and they showed uncensored segments from his daytime talk show. Because the content was 18+, my fellow students weren't able to buy/rent it... except through me. I was able to get copies of the tapes and I rented them to my peers.

In 2019, Jerry was the reason our syndicated radio shows were banned from working with NBC publicity. (Really. Nobody knows this story!) Jerry's longtime personal publicist had arranged a segment for our radio shows but the corporate publicist stepped in and was in charge. The rep had a history of being dismissive and, well, snobby. Through back-and-forth emails, Jerry's rep said to just go through her if we had trouble with corporate. In one of the emails she said of the corporate rep, "she's a bitch to me, too." I forwarded that to an NBC exec with a complaint about the publicity department. Jerry's rep later circled back saying NBC never wants to work with SpeakFree Media again. We got around that by dealing directly with celebs and/or their teams (I know a lot of people) and having them on the air, anyway.

Jerry was a TV icon. He will be missed.
